Mindful handling
This situation raises questions about protection of personal integrity.
Text version scenario
I am managing a team of 10 people. Yesterday, I was sitting in the open office area doing one of my team member’s talent review on my computer. My phone rang and I took the call in another room. When I came back, some colleagues from the team were standing at my desk talking. I think they might have seen what I was writing.
Discussion question
- What should we consider when working in open environments?
- What should we think about when we take part of personal data or other sensitive data?
Things to consider
We can learn from these situations to help us truly live our values. We can consider the following actions:
- Remember to lock your computer: “When you leave your seat, press ctrl+alt+delete”.
- Choose your working location with care.
- Don’t take part of information that is not meant for you. Think about how you would like your personal information to be handled and handle other people's personal information in that same way.
- You can order privacy filters to protect your computer screen from people sneaking a peek.
